The categories below describe the matters this firm accepts, not a record of results in each one. What they have in common is scale: an injury that changed what the rest of someone’s life looks like, or a defendant whose conduct reached more than one person. Those cases are built with investigators, treating physicians, life-care planners and expert testimony — not a demand letter.
What kinds of cases does The Biggest Cases handle?
Fourteen categories of catastrophic injury, wrongful death and complex liability work, ranging from motor vehicle and medical malpractice through product liability, mass torts, industrial disasters, aviation, maritime and digital harm. The practice is licensed in Illinois and Florida and takes matters elsewhere with local co-counsel. It also accepts referrals from other attorneys, which is a core part of the practice rather than an exception to it.

A case can be too large for the practice that receives it, and that is an ordinary fact of the profession rather than a failure. The file needs investigators on site within days, experts who will hold up under cross, and a firm able to carry costs for years before anything comes back.
Referral and co-counsel work is a core part of this practice. Referring attorneys can stay as involved as they want to be, from an active co-counsel role through to a straightforward referral. The arrangement, including how fees divide under the rules of the governing jurisdiction, is agreed in writing before the matter moves — not negotiated once there is a recovery to argue about.
About these categories
No, and it should not be read that way. These categories describe the matters the firm accepts. No case results are published on this site, and no outcome in any specific category should be inferred from its presence on this list.
Scale, and what it takes to prove them. A birth injury, a refinery explosion and a maritime system failure have almost nothing in common factually, but each one turns on reconstructing what happened from records and physical evidence, and each needs experts rather than an adjuster. That is the practice — not a subject-matter specialty in fourteen unrelated fields.
Founder Adam Zayed is a Licensed Illinois and Florida Attorney, and partner Andrew Miller is a Licensed Illinois and Florida Attorney. Matters elsewhere are handled with local co-counsel admitted in the governing jurisdiction, which is the ordinary way a case is brought in a state where a firm is not admitted.
Call, or use the referral option on the contact form. What gets agreed first is the arrangement — whether you stay in as co-counsel with an active role or refer it outright, and how fees divide under the rules of the governing jurisdiction. That is settled in writing before the matter moves, not afterwards.
Category 14 exists for exactly that — unusual liability, cross-border matters, whistleblower claims and cases that do not fit a standard practice area. A case being hard to categorise is not a reason not to ask about it.
